Short week...
I am so proud of these writers! They have been working hard on writing their stories for several days. We went through the complete writing process. Monday is our "Writer's Celebration." I will be providing apple cider so we can make a toast to the great 5th grade authors. If anyone would like to bring in treats, they certainly are welcome to do so. Besides our celebration on Monday, writing will consist of some fun writing prompts this week.
In math, we will finish up unit 2. The test will be on Wednesday. Please sign the test and send back on Monday. Continue to work on those multiplication facts at home. It is so important to have them memorized.
Readers are working towards their 40 book requirement for the year. We are half way through the 1st quarter so students should have read approximately 5-6 books so far. They get time in class, and during library but they need to be reading a minimum of 20 minutes a night.  I am always looking for ways to add new books to our classroom library. If you have any, or see any on a sale we will gladly accept the donated books! Thanks for ordering your child books from Scholastic! I got to order 4 free books that were on our class wish list. Three students have already devoured one of the books! That is a teacher's dream! I LOVE to see them develop a love of reading. I will do whatever I can to help them all become voracious readers.
For middle school block, our class is going to Mr.Wagner for Social Studies 10/8-10/23. They seem to be enjoying it. Next, they walk to the high school for art 10/26-11/6.
Book orders are due Oct. 26th. Or order any time online using our class code P4R82.
Have a great week and a nice MEA break.
